I'm compiling ATLAS version 3.6.0 on Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther).

I'm sorry that I don't know what is the real problem. What I know is
that it occurs in stage 2-1-2, i.e., cache edge detection.

I think the related error messages are:

/var/tmp//cc5G58Lb.s:96:dst vector instruction is optional for the
PowerPC (not allowed without -force_cpusubtype_ALL option)
/var/tmp//cc5G58Lb.s:98:dst vector instruction is optional for the
PowerPC (not allowed without -force_cpusubtype_ALL option)
make[7]: *** [ATL_dcol2blk_aX.o] Error 1
make[7]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
/var/tmp//ccmjlaib.s:47:dst vector instruction is optional for the
PowerPC (not allowed without -force_cpusubtype_ALL option)
/var/tmp//ccmjlaib.s:48:dst vector instruction is optional for the
PowerPC (not allowed without -force_cpusubtype_ALL option)
/var/tmp//ccmjlaib.s:56:dst vector instruction is optional for the
PowerPC (not allowed without -force_cpusubtype_ALL option)
/var/tmp//ccmjlaib.s:58:dst vector instruction is optional for the
PowerPC (not allowed without -force_cpusubtype_ALL option)
make[7]: *** [ATL_drow2blkT_aX.o] Error 1

make[5]: *** [dmmlib] Error 2
make[4]: *** [res/atlas_cacheedge.h] Error 2
make[3]: *** [dinstall] Error 2
make[2]: *** [MMinstall] Error 2

I've tried inserting the -force_cpusubtype_ALL option after the gcc
command. However, this is useless.

Please help me.

Thanks in advance.

I would love to get ATLAS running on my new dual CPU G5 system, as I
have a medical imaging project involving ultrasound tomography which
can use every last MFLOP I can squeeze out. Unfortunately I've
encountered similar problems getting ATLAS 3.7.3 to build under Mac OS
X 10.3.4. Attempting to use the default configuration script leads to a
    strange compile error :

    /usr/bin/cc -DL2SIZE=4194304 -I/Users/mschabel/Code/ATLAS/include
    -I/Users/mschabel/Code/ATLAS/include/OSX_PPCG4AltiVec_2 -I/Users/
    mschabel/Code/ATLAS/include/contrib -DAdd__ -DATL_OS_OSX
    -DATL_ARCH_PPCG4 -DATL_AltiVec -DATL_AS_OSX_PPC -DATL_NCPU=2
    -fomit-frame-pointer -O3 -traditional-cpp -faltivec -c ../atlas_install.c
    ../atlas_install.c: In function `ATL_mprintf':
../atlas_install.c:201: error: syntax error at '#' token

removing the -traditional-cpp flag fixes this issue and the library
compiles for some time before crashing as described above in cache
    edge detection. Any suggestions?

Regards and keep up the good work -

    Matthias,

I can't help without the error report as discussed:
    http://math-atlas.sourceforge.net/faq.html#help
You will not be able to attach it below, since you didn't
originally, and posted anon, so I'm closing. Reopen with
    error report.

    Regards,
    Clint
