I don't mean "Show me a set of Mason components that duplicate site X". Rather, I mean are there any repositories of "styles" for data-driven websites, in skeletal form, to look at for my own education? I find lots of the sites I might want to use as examples are commercial (it would be ethically questionable to copy them) and/or way too complex at the source level (javascript, and all sorts of non-necessary fancy tricks in the HTML). I like the look of kuro5hin, but don't know if it's really ethical to copy their general layout, especially if I'd have to reverse-engineer it to do so. And I don't know how well it works across different browsers anyway. I'm working on a site right now, in rawest of template forms, and am looking for some way to flesh it out without calling favors from my friends that actually have an aesthetic sense to speak of. :-( I just need an education in graphic layout balanced against utility, with more emphasis on utility. |
