Thanks Victor.  I'd rather not set the simple filters.  It looks like this new configuration parameter is scheduled for 1.2.0.  Any idea when that will be released?
 
As for changing the code - I may consider it.

I've ported the following issue for this:

Note that there is a bug in 1.1.1, which allows you to disable it by
setting the following config:
$g_view_filters = SIMPLE_ONLY; // or ADVANCED_ONLY

However, this means that you will sacrifice one of the filter modes.

I would suggest you remove it from the code by doing the following:

1. Search for permalink_page.php in core/filters_api.php and remove
the whole print_bracket_link() call.

2. Remove permalink_page.php file.
