 Database Installation for Oracle
 MailManager 2.2-devel
 Thu Jun 29 2006
At present, Oracle support is only under development. This document is mainly
a placeholder for putting some notes relating to this support which will be
of interest to other developers. Oracle support is currently in not a state
ready for production use.
You need the following
 * A modified version of DCOracle2 (not supplied at present, needs some
modifications to deal with max_rows=0 meaning no limit, and some
alterations will need done to deal with 10xe datatypes).
The SERIAL datatype does not exist in Oracle, and does not fit cleanly
with our current mapping structure. We do not rely on ths use of this
datatype though, as we always obtain IDs separately and supply them
DCOracle2 does not handle max_rows=0 in the same way as other DAs. It
defaults to having max_rows be a very large number. As we cannot satisfy
all DAs using this, we have modified DCOracle2 to do something more
 sensible with max_rows=0
No TEXT type in Oracle, only CLOBs. At present, some distinction has
been added between large text and small text, the latter being limited
 to 2048 chars at present.
CREATE TABLE does not appear to work transactionally, which means that
migrations are not atomic. This should be investigated, as it couappear
cause significant problems with partial migrations being more difficult
 to recover from.
