I've been running mailmanager at my office for a little
over a month and we're up to ticket #030338. I pack
the database every night using a cron job but that only
gets it down to 1.1GB. Right before the pack it's
sometimes as large as 1.5GB. I don't actually need all
of these tickets immediately available to mailmanager.
I would like to be able to archive most of the closed
tickets so they're not clogging the database. A way to
archive tickets and then to import them back from the
archive if I need to look at them at some later date
would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The ZODB has a capacity limit of around 5GB - 10GB depending on the
hardware so you shouldn't let the database grow too big. Or if you do
you should replace the FileStorage with something like APE.

I was surprised archiving wasn't already on the RFE list, we've certainly
talked about it a lot. Perhaps working on a way to generate .zexp (Zope
Export) files for tickets would be the best approach.

Just back from EuroPython - there were people there who had ZODB's
around 30GB so the situation is better than I said.

'Delete & Archive' and 'Restore' options have been added to the Settings /
System screen to archive and restore tickets. This will appear in the next
    release.
