Greetings! I have one Conceptronic C54i (a PCI card) on my desktop machine in Master Mode, running Linux and with the madwifi drivers acting has a gateway. I also have a Conceptronic C54C (a PCMCIA card) on my laptop (an Acer 1604) with Windows XP, acessing the Internet through the desktop. I noticed that in some circunstances i have an huge packet loss, and most of the time the PCMCIA card only has one led blinking instead of the two leds. After a mail from Greg saying that the PCMCIA slots in some laptops are not very well shielded i noticed that this only happened when the laptop was being powered by the battery (which is exactly bellow the PCMCIA slots). When the laptop is powered directly from the power outlet the connection seems to work flawlessly. So if some one is having the same problem that i have, try to use the laptop corded instead of using the power from the battery. Btw, this only happens when using the madwifi drivers in the desktop machine. When using either driverloader or the computer in Windows (both in Ad-Hoc mode) the connection from the laptop works flawlessly either with the laptop pluged or using the battery. Since this seems to be a driver related issue in handling noisy environments, is there anything i can do to help fix this problem? Best regards |
