That's the main thing. Binary-only stuff is never going to be included in the
kernel. A significant number of kernel people (from GregKH to Torvalds himself)
also don't like the wrapper approach that madwifi uses.
IIRC, somebody tried to push a reverse-engineered, Open Source Atheros driver on
LKML, but apparently, that wasn't quite clean room, so didn't go anywhere.
