WLAN should handle the normal ethernet MTU and even larger frames (IIRC, the maximum frame size is ~2300 bytes), so there should be no reason at all to set a lower MTU. At least on my notebook, I get good performance (~2.5MB/s) without any netdev watchdog timeouts. I am using 802.11a with a LANCOM access point. Larger packets may get corrupted more often due to noise on the transmission channel, however, if that really is the problem, then using fragmentation in the driver would be the better approach. However, I think that a *lot* of noise would be necessary - I guess we would have to not get an ACK on all retransmissions of the packet, which seems quite odd. cu Michael |
