I am a proud owner of a T40p however their built in mini-pci card has me
disappointed that it is not fully or officially supported in linux. IBM
does a lot of work to make most of their hardware compatible with
Anyway to the problem:
I have a problem with connecting to my wireless router at home. Its a
netgear wgr614. However, I have no problems connecting to the routers
at school. They use Cisco routers and they use an open system with no
WEP encryption. I've also been able to connect to a neighbors router.
I use the minimal settings on my 'ifcfg-ath0' cfg file.
These seem to work fine when I run 'ifup ath0'. However, for my router
at home it does not work. It starts up with Determining IP
information... hangs for a bit and gives me a message:
PING 192.168.0.1 2006 ms +3 errors, 100% packet loss blah blah blah
Can't exactly remember. Whats funny is that my router address is not
even 192.168.0.1 its 192.168.1.1. I can 'iwlist ath0 scan' fine and
pick up on the router but even when i set its essid i still get the same
problem. Can anyone point me to some solutions or explaing to me what
might be going on? Any help would be great.
