I'm trying to configure an Atheros AR5212 802.11abg NIC (168c:0013). On
other systems, I have an Intel 2200BG and Wave2Net 802.11b CF working
with WEP (this seems to be the only option supported by the stock Zaurus
software). I'd like to use the Atheros card with those hosts.
I've built Debian's madwifi-source 0.9.2+r1842.20061207-2etch1 for the
2.6.18.dfsg.1 kernel. I see ath0 and wifi0 devices in ifconfig. However,
when I configure ath0 following
http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/FirstTimeHowTo , I can't get them all
see each other in iwlist ath0 scan (nor in wlanconfig ath0 list scan).
The Intel host sees the Atheros host:
Cell 03 - Address: 02:18:E7:2B:05:D1
Frequency:2.412 GHz (Channel 1)
Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s
9 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s
48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s
Quality=96/100 Signal level=-29 dBm
Extra: Last beacon: 172ms ago
The Atheros host sees itself, but not the Intel host.
I've tried turning WEP off, with the same result. I can't verify it was
off since I don't know how I can check that; I couldn't see any field
about that in the iwconfig output.
What I want in the end is communicating over this Allnet card as a hub,
but I don't fully understand how this works. I would be glad if anyone
could first guide me to the point where all three can ping each other.
Thanks in advance,
