Hello, I have a problem installing an old version of the madwifi driver. I need to install Madwifi-old Rev1417 in order to use a particular program "Xian project" http://xian.sourceforge.com I'm using a kernel version recompiled on my own, so I'm quite sure that I have the sources and the headers of my kernel.. I have also tried to install the last version of the madwifi driver, the last release (MadWifi v0.9.4) and it works properly, but I need that particular version in order to install Xian____ <http://downloads.sourceforge.net/madwifi/madwifi-0.9.4.tar.gz> (I have unstalled it before to try to install the old version) When I try install the old version it's return an error. root@Ulix:/usr/src/madwifi-bsd-cvs#make KERNELPATH=/usr/src/linux-2.6.24.3/ Checking if all requirements are met... FAILED Please enable wireless extensions. make: *** [configcheck] Error 1 on the install.txt file I read that it is necessary to have installed a "o Wireless Extensions support (14 or later, 17 preferred)" so I typed the same string that I founded in the Makefile.inc root@Ulix:/usr/src/madwifi-bsd-cvs#cat /usr/src/linux-2.6.24.3/include/linux/wireless.h | grep WIRELESS_EXT #define WIRELESS_EXT 22 __u8 we_version_compiled; /* Must be WIRELESS_EXT */ I typed also this command root@Ulix:/usr/src/madwifi-bsd-cvs# cat /proc/net/wireless Inter-| sta-| Quality | Discarded packets | Missed | WE face | tus | link level noise | nwid crypt frag retry misc | beacon | 22 So, it is seem that I have the version 22 installed on my kernel. I know that is a particular problem with an old version of the MadWifi drivers, but maybe someone has any ideas! Thanks for any assistance Best wishes, Francesco Telch |

Hi. Cross-posting is unnecessary in this case, as this is clearly no issue related to development of the driver. Thus I remove CC to madwifi-devel. No support, no bug-fixing, known security issues. > in order to use a particular program > "Xian project" http://xian.sourceforge.com This project seems to be stale, too. It's still talking about the BSD branch, and that ad-hoc mode is broken in madwifi-ng. The latter has been addressed in numerous commits during the past months, so the situation has been changed. > Checking if all requirements are met... Then you're probably not compiling MadWifi against the source and/or configuration that's been used to build your currently running kernel. Bye, Mike |
