First, I'm using a AR5212-based PCMCIA-Card (DLink DWL-650+) i a quite
lossy environment. With this card, I can reach the AP fairly well
under WindousXP. Under (K)ubuntu Breezy, I never was able to hold the
connection for more than 2 seconds, as the driver crashes the system.
After recompiling the whole kernel, I also compiled the driver by
myself, how I was recommended, with ATH_RATE=3Dath_rate/onoe. Now the
driver does not crash my system any longer, but, unfortunately, I also
cannot connect to the AP anymore, although it is listed in the iwlist
output. I run the following commands to get the connection being
wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta
wpa_supplicant -D madwifi -i ath0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -Bw
iwconfig ath0 ap so:me:ma:ca:dd:re
Why doesn't the connection get established after these commands?
Best wishes and hope for a helpful anwer,

Which revision of madwifi-ng are you using? What kernel are you running?
Please post a complete oops message that is produced when your system
crashes, so that we're able to track down the problem.
