Maybe you can use this information for debugging or development:
I have been using madwifi for several months for a computer configured as
Alas, my setup suffered from the SBP.
When using the (then) main branch, everything worked fine with 11Mbps, but the
system got stuck under high transfer load when using 54 Mbps.
My setup was as follows
NETGEAR WG311 PCI WLAN Card
madwifi CVS (main branch) Oct.04-May05
vanilla linux kernels 2.6.7 - 2.6.11
EP-MVP3C motherboard with VIA MVP3 chipset
256 MB SDRAM
CPU Intel P200MMX @150MHz
The BSD branch would not work at all with this setup up to May 05
Then, some day in May 05, the BSD branch started working as well, and
particularly with CVS as of June 14, everything worked well with 11 and 54
Mbps and the SBP was gone.
Recently I changed the motherboard for a M5ATA with Aladdin IV chipset, now
the SBP is back again and the system gets stuck @ 54 Mbps (frequently) _and_
@ 11 Mbps (seldom).
As everything (software and hardware) in the setup remained the same except
for the motherboard, I suspect some connection with the motherboard's
I hope this information can help you in tracking down the SBP.
Thank you for your work
