Is an AP scan only possible if, and only if the driver/software (?) is
in rfmon mode?
Is it possible to do an AP scan w/o rfmon mode?
I've learned that when in rfmon mode, it is impossible to send any data?
With the madwifi driver iwgetid -m ath0; iwlist ath0 scan I get scan
results. But iwgetid tells me, the driver is in managed/not in monitor
mode. How this? Is it handled by the HAL and the iwtools aren't told via
the WE that the card is in rfmon mode when it is (scanning)?
Promiscous mode is necessary to accept any packet; rfmon mode is
required to handle any rf-data?
BTW, where may information regarding this aspect be found for
self-digging for info?
Thanks for any detailled technical explanation,
