I need to set up an access point(linux + pcmcia wlan card with madwifi)
with a modifiable retry limit. I have set up a linux Slackware machine,
with a 3com pcmcia wlan card, and it works fine with madwifi-ng as driver,
in master mod. But I could not modify the retry level. I am aware that, in
Madwifi it is not implemented support for the iwconfig retry, but I read
in some papers that it is possible to modify the retry limit from within
the code (if_ath.c, the value of ATH_MAXTRY which by default is 11.) From
what I read it has been tested only in ad-hoc and monitor mode. Still I
need it to work in ap mode. I have modified the value as indicated,
recompiled, but afters some tests I have concluded that there has been no
change in the retry limit(I have observed the behaviour of a cisco 1200
series ap with different retry limits with background traffic and for the
madwifi there is no similar behaviour, in fact there is no modification in
behaviour whatsoever for any retry limit I set).
Could someone give me any hints about how to modify the retry limit?
