I guess the 11 microseconds gap you mentioned is for the data packets sent out from a given transmitter, right?  For 802.11 b/g, the SIFS is 10 microseconds.  When the data packets are sent our within the same TXOP, the gap should be around 10 microseconds. 

For 802.11e, if I set AIFSN=0, then DIFS=SIFS.  Do you know other better places to generate the custom response based on the received packets?

The rx_tasklet function is a tasklet which is scheduled from the ath_intr interrupt and hence may not be called fast enough for your custom response packet.
