Hello, Has anybody a solution (or an idea) to control the screen back light level of a Mac Book pro 17" (with an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 inside)? I tried Backlight Control from [1] but without success (the site is about a Mac Book and not a Mac Book pro). Thanks, [1] http://desrt.mcmaster.ca/macbook.xhtml -- Dr. Ludovic Rousseau |

This is the MacBook Pro userspace app to control the backlight. It was on the mactel lists early one. I believe it only works when booted BIOS style. I've had some *weird* issues with it. When setting the backlight to 15 (full) the MBP immediately powered off. This happened twice. __armando |

I submitted a newer version (OSX-like) on the list, if you don't want to dig into the archives, someone copied the files here: http://modular.math.washington.edu/macbook/backlight/ > I've had some *weird* issues with it. Is this related somehow to the regular way to change brightness, or just a general problem with Windows and Linux on the MBP's? I ask because it's *only* happened when I used the original brightness changing program. __armando |

I don't know why Apple did not provide a tool for Windows that use the same registers as OS X, as it is technically feasible. |
