The process that worked for me was quite easy, in the end (there was a lot of trial and error, but...):
1.) Boot into OS X and run Boot Camp to set up the box w/ BIOS emulation; when they prompt to insert the Windows install CD, just pop in the linux install CD. You might be able to do this by blowing away the two partitions you mentioned, reinstalling OS X onto them, and then running Boot Camp. Boot Camp makes this process easy; without it, I'm not sure how doable this is.
2.) Format the disks, blowing away the existing partitions, as a normal linux box. I used fdisk, since cfdisk choked on it - fdisk couldn't see the partitions, but it could blow them away if I remember correctly. :) Parted also worked from what I recall. Once the GPT partitions have been blown away, though, cfdisk will work fine.
3.) Do a manual install, building your own kernel (see above - 2.6.16 w/ patches from the Mactel site), and installing LILO to the MBR on the system disk. I used Gentoo, but any flavor that allows you to build your own kernels and manually configure things should work just fine.
That was it, literally.

I still have all my problems but as far as I understand they are
solveable. Can someone please tell me how he/she did this?
First my preconditions:
* I have 6 paritions. I can delete 2 of them if neccessary but I cannot
reformat them because there is important data on it.
* I have no bios emulation enabled and I have only GPT parition tables.
* I have tried to install lilo on /dev/sda /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 but
without success. Grub deleted my parition table but I could restore it
* I have no windows (even no windows cds)
What I want is:
* Activate BIOS emulation. I think this should work by installing lilo
or "mbr" (see http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~neilt/mbr/) because if
they are on CD the BIOS emulation is activated. Have tried to install
grub on CD but without success (hang at "loading stagr 1.5" or so).
* Clone GPT partition table to a mbr partition table (I think I have to
delete 2 partitions for this).
* Use the closed source ati driver fglrx for hardware acceleration.
* Get full keyboard support, get a correct keymap.
* Get a second mouse button by using mac_hid (in the kernel)
Has someone got this working under my preconditions? I just cannot get

Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
Get stuff done quickly with pre-integrated technology to make your job easier
