In order to make use of a forwarded TCP/IP port,
Allow Guests must be checked. This allows
any machine anywhere to "hitch a ride" on the
forwarded port.

This sort of defeats the purpose of using the ssh
tunnel
in the first place.

I do not have this problem here.

Allow Guests is unchecked, and I'm able to connect to
127.0.0.1 to use a forwarded port.

    no security issue for me...

how are you trying to connect ? what IP ?

    127.0.0.1 Does in fact work.

    You are correct.

I suppose in a Mac environment one must
use a host file to tell the mac that
    "localhost" is 127.0.0.1 ?

I tried localhost, and the true IP address, couldn't
get anything with localhost, and could only
get the IP address by allowing guests.

    My bad

Sorry, and thanks kindly for the assist.

    Keep up the good work.
