#5 freetext search failing

The free text search is failing. Say I enter "search
string", all I get back is:

<hr>
<h1>search string</h1>
<a href="source/">, line </a> -- <br>
<hr>

I tried debugging it but I didn't get anywhere.
Anybody else had this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

I think it's better if you give more info - like

    1. Are you using glimpse/swish-e for freetext search?

    2. Relevant parts of your lxr.conf file.

Your problem might even be due to bugs in swish-e [if
that's what you are using] - since it itself is under development
    now!

    Hi,
I got the same problem with lxr-0.9.1 when I used Swish-e
It seems some of the arguments to invoke swish-e are wrong.

Do you need to have both swish-e and the swish-e search binary?

I tried to create my own index from swish-e but lxr can't
seem to invoke the search binary
(I used Swish-e 2.0.5, is there an older version that would
    be more suitable??)

    Regards

    Darragh,

You need a development version of swish-e - that is 2.1.0 or
later. It won't work with 2.0.x

I am having a similar problem:

    LXR: 0.9.2
    Swish-e: 2.2.3

The ident search seems to work (with functions, at least).
But full text doesn't. My "swishdir" contains the following
    files...

    [jake@acutex-ln01 swish]$ ll
    total 23368
    -rw-r--r-- 1 jake jake 23809509 Jun 2 15:07
    head.index
    -rw-r--r-- 1 jake jake 83166 Jun 2 15:07
    head.index.prop

I take back some of what I said... it seems a freetext
search for 'upload' returns the same thing Josh is seeing
but a few of the others I've tried seem to work fine.

A file search, however, seems to complain about not having a
    '.glimpse_filenames' file.

I am also having this problem and invested a lot of time
trying to solv e it with no luck.
I am running lxr version 0.3, Glimpse version 4.17.4 on Red
Hat Advanced Server 2.1 2.4.9-e.27 kernel running , Apache
1.3.27-3, perl-5.6.1-36.1.99ent. As I believe this is the
    latest updates from Red Hat.

I would like to get the freetext search working.

Can anyone please provide any help!!!!!

    thank you...
