I am preparing the application for LXDE as a project for the Google
Summer of Code 2010. Please put up the call for ideas on your blogs,
twitter, identi.ca etc., so we get as much input/feedback as possible.
More info and links in the blog http://blog.lxde.org/?p=609 . The more
people blog about LXDE and GSoC the higher our chance to get in as
For the program we also need mentors, who can help students to achieve
goals and will rate students. Please reply to this email, if you could
be a potential mentor.
Generally Summer of Code is a good way for students to get deeper
involved into Free and Open Source Software and LXDE specifically.
During the summer students have the chance to code on LXDE and get
paid by Google.
Last year some other projects also offered student slots to work on
LXDE. So even if we could not make it into the program, people have
the chance to work on LXDE through Fedora, Debian, Opensuse etc..
I set up a wiki page. If you have already an idea about a project you
would like to do, please also leave your idea here:
There is a check list for students based on a check list I found from
the php project:
All the best,
