lxsession-edit does not allow the user to add new programs that need to be started at login.
One has to open a terminal, then create or symlink a .desktop file in ~/.config/autostart to achieve that.
It would be more user-friendly to be able to do it through lxsession-edit GUI.

Discussion

  • I agree it would be a very useful feature.
Then instead of the checkboxes to enable/disable the items it would have the hability to add, remove and edit autostarting items, like the Xfce one, I think.

I thought that maybe to be more specific to lxsession, it could edit directly ~/.config/lxsession/[running_session]/autostart instead of the files in ~/.config/autostart . That wouldn't be as easy as simply adding existing desktop files from elsewhere but it's the usual way of doing this as frequently the commands to be autostarted don't have a desktop file and the user must know the proper command anyway.
