When I try to copy a file within the same FTP server, I
get an error (something like "not permitted"), and the
size of the target file is exactly 512 byte. Copying
from local disk to FTP works.

    This seems to be a server problem (451 /andreas-s.net/test:
    Append/Restart not permitted, try again.) - not all ftp servers support appended writes.

    I need some more info:
    * which ftp server
    * what utility are you using for file copying
    * this doesn't seem to be the full debug output - send me a full one

    FTP Server: ProFTPD 1.2.5rc1 (ftp://andreas-s.net:21)

    I'm copying files with "cp", but editing them with vim
    doesn't work either.

    A complete logfile (mounting, listing, copying) is attached.
