One of the main goals for LTSP6 is to drop LDM entirely, and just use a standard display manager (lightdm, GDM, KDM, etc.) using libpam-sshauth and PAM authentication... and *ideally* be able to support other backends such as LDAP... This is primarily useful for fat clients and localapps, so that applications, such as screenlockers, password changing programs, etc. can authenticate and function properly.
