Are there any plans to make the format similar to log4j
Ultimately be able to have a simple log configuration
file working for both C++ and java.
thanks in advance

The SimpleConfigurator class is a 'quick hack' to enable
log4cpp configuration per config file, not aimed at any
    compatibility with log4j.
However a future DomConfigurator will use the same XML
schema log4j uses and maybe someone is interested in
    writing a log4j compatible PropertyConfigurator.
My own plans (with a not so high priority) include to write
a Configurator based on the AnyConfig package (see
    http://sf.net/projects/anyconfig\), which may have config
files that better resemble log4j's than the current
    SimpleConfigurator.
You're welcome to help implement a better Configurator :-)

As of release 0.3.2 log4cpp has a "PropertyConfigurator"
which can read log4j property files. Please test it and
    report incompatibilities with log4j.

    Thanks,
