I have not had any problems playing midi files from lilypond using mostly timidity on linux, and various players (cakewalk) on windows. I have used jazz++ and sted2 sequencers in the past. Importing a midi file to muse, I can see the file in the track view, Anyway seems minor to me since I can just move the end marker. Mostly in lilypond I create guitar scores sometimes with added percussion tracks. When I first started using lilypond it was easier for me to write a percussion track by selecting the note that represented the percussion sound I needed and then later change to channel 10 in a midi sequencer. I think that lilypond has made using the drum sounds easier so I will be trying that once again. So my basic needs in a sequencer was to change midi channel and tempos. Also modifying the instrument when trying out different sounds. I just started using Muse and one thing that intrigues me is the format of the med file being clear text. I can see some of the information in there and may try to edit it directly to see what happens, tempo for example. When using muse if I play the file through the emu10k1 mpu-401 via midi cable to a sound module and make a change of the instrument sound I can see the change come in. But when I save the file with the new instrument I dont see anything that looks like the new instrument sound in the med file. I am bringing it up because when I export the file to midi and then play it with timidity it keeps defaulting to grand piano. Not sure if timidity or muse export is where I am going wrong. |
