Hi guys, Been doing some more mixer experiments. Though there where some bugs in the way I did get to do some test recordings to test my new Variax :-). Some quick bugs of the top of my head. (Hopefully my photagrapphic memoreee didn't screw up the details) * Route windows don't update when they are open, have to reopen to see changes. * Sometimes the routewindows doesn't seem to update even then... * In general buggy behaviour when connecting several ins and outs. * Meters stopped working on a track when doing playback * erroneous behaviour after renaming input and output tracks, didn't propagate to mixer * is there only one output allowed from a track? * Aux strips doesn't seem to do anything... I can't connect them * sometime during the routing, probably after adding the second output, the console spews "FIFO 0x8405114 underrun..." messages until doomsday. What I tried was to connect the guitar to one input and a microphone to another input. And then trying to record both to different tracks. This worked, zippydidoodaah, except for the underrun business which didn't seem to cause any harm. After recording this I could easily route it to a master-out and listen to it. Presumably I could add ladspa effects but I didn't try. Instead I wanted to exercise MusE's new routing capabilities and route the signal through BruteFIR adding some real room acoustics... I think I succeeded with this once but after a while MusE crashed... subsequent tests I wasn't even able to connect the outputs to Brutefir. they meters on the second output pair never came alive. The path I tried to achieve was. Track 1 -> Output 2 -> Jack/BruteFir/Jack -> Input 1 -> Output 1 (master) \---------------------------------------------> Output 1 (master) Thus being able to vary the amount of effect by changing Output 2 I was originally trying to use the Aux strip for this but I discovered that I couldn't even connect it to the outs. It also misses the "auxillary" connections, with the current functionality it seems to be just a group track with a different name. To be of use it should/must have an internal jack-out and jack-in available in the routing dialog. Then I would do: Track 1 -> Aux1 -> Jack/BruteFir/Jack -> Aux1 -> Output 1 (master) \--------------------------------------> Output 1 (master) I don't think the routing changes discussed earlier where implemented, unless it's the Viev->Routes, which is quite possible. It does only seem to handle jack at the moment though so it isn't usable internally in the mixer. All for now, I'm happy to announce that RT behaviour seems extremely stable, very impressive. Functionality wise it's not really top notch yet... I reallize this is a huge undertaking and it's gonna be a while before everything is working as planned, even if I get my ass out of the wagon and manage to help... But I can wait, when this stuff gets working it'll be a truck load of fun, that I'm sure of :) Heck I'm having lots of fun already. :-))) Regards, Robert |
