I'm probably just slow, but what was the feature request exactly, to not optimize away events?
That doesn't sound so hard to fix, though I guess it would be good to know why this is a problem?

So the actual feature request would be to be able to send the controller and sysex information everytime muse starts playing and to be able to turn it off.
Also it would be nice to have a script utility that converts a text file with instrument banks and patches to instrument.xml (like in rg).

Sounds good to me :) Though in going through my Fantom unit, the specific
items I had to turn on were program changes AND bank changes. I'm guessing that
those fit into the sysex or controller category but I'm not sure.
