#129 Incorrect graphs on Wavetracks

When i import a wavefile to a track i do not get a
usable graph - i can see Audioevents in the track but
as the cursor passes the region, there is nothing
played and as the cursor passes empty regions in the
graph, it plays the imported.

If i change the file by using an external editor, the
changes are reflected in the graph but not played as
expected.(BTW: i had sweep set as the default
waveeditor - strange as it does not work with jack... -
i changed this to mhwaveedit - this one cooperates very
good - so IF the wavetracks would be played as
expected, Muse could even challenge Ardour regarding
editing-comfort for Audiotracks ;-) )

    I'm puzzled.

    Do you have any "nonstandard" settings? Jack samplerate?
    Did you import with the menu alternative or drag&drop?

    >Do you have any "nonstandard" settings?

    I dont think so, yet i run the whole thing with a
    default-kernel an use the hw-monitoring of the envy24 to get
    the Sound in time... Ardour and mhwaveedit show and play
    Wavefiles exactly as expected...

    >menu alternative or drag&drop?
    I import via menu. First into the the internal
    Audiofilemanager and from its Window i drag the segments to
    their tracks...

    "Audiofilemanager" now you have me confused, I don't think
    we have one :-D

    An idea. is it possible that the file you imported had a
    name that had been used previously in MusE?
    The wave-graph is cached in the files ending with .wca. If
    the files are manipulated outside muse it is possible to
    end up with a wave file and wca file which do not belong
    together. You can test this by removing the wca file, it
    should be regenerated the next time the file is used.

    No - the file is all new - i use wavefiles seldom with muse...
    Now i got something new to report: as i reopened the project
    with the wavefile in question today, the unwanted effect is
    gone - everything plays as expectetd - even dragging the
    file in the timeline works OK. But if i import another file
    to the same session - it is the same trouble again (BTW:
    "internal filebrowser" means the builtin QT-Browser, that is
    called by Muse, if i use file|import wave) So the seams to
    be something evil sneaked into the importfunction.... If i
    drag a file from Konqueror it is the same and i get this in
    the console:
    WaveTrack::getData(Track 4) fifo underrun
    FIFO 0x896df70 underrun...
    WaveTrack::getData(Track 5) fifo underrun
    FIFO 0x899ee30 underrun...
    WaveTrack::getData(Track 4) fifo underrun
    FIFO 0x896df70 underrun...
    WaveTrack::getData(Track 5) fifo underrun
    FIFO 0x899ee30 underrun...
    WaveTrack::getData(Track 4) fifo underrun
    FIFO 0x896df70 underrun...
    WaveTrack::getData(Track 5) fifo underrun
    FIFO 0x899ee30 underrun...
    WaveTrack::getData(Track 4) fifo underrun

    could there be a workaround by tuning th audiobuffersize for
    Jack ?

    If i close muse and jack and then reopen, the result is as
    expected: graphs and sound are in perfect sync...

    ping times.... oh the joy...

    I have been unable to recreate this persistently.
    There _is_ an issue relating to the wav-cache.
    Changing the external file or importing a new file may not
    become active until the old file has been flushed from the
    cache (takes perhaps 5 seconds).

    I'm not certain, but this may be fixed now.
    I think the problem was inconsistencies between wca
    (cached peak information) and the actual wav file.

    MusE now recreates (and reloads) the wca file whenever the
    wav file is more recent than the wca.
