You shouldn't need CMake at all to test out your changes (but I believe you are familar with this anyway). So getting a beta version of 1.1 (RC4 as you mentioned) should get you right on your way. There shouldn't be any major changes to the text between now and the 1.1 release. Thanks kindly for thinking of the translations.
