I found the reason for the quite poor quality of LMMS's resampling-code... =
code controlling libsamplerate told libsamplerate to use=20
zero-order-hold-interpolation which is probably the worst interpolation of=
all... I didn't know that and assumed it's better than linear interpolation=
because in the enumeration of interpolation-methods in samplerate.h,=20
zero-order-hold is between linear and sinc-interpolation...
Now linear interpolation gives much better quality with less artifacts, so=
even the ogg-samples coming with LMMS are quite usable ;-) There's still a=
small bug in resampling-code in LMMS which causes LMMS to skip one frame=20
sometimes because of calculations of sample-positions depending on=20
resampling-frequency and floating-point errors... therefore=20
sinc-interpolation gives a lot of clicks and is quite unusable, so I disabl=
that for the moment. With linear interpolation there are minimal ticks in t=
sound-stream which you only recognize if you're listening really careful...=
Hopefully will fix that after 0.1.2 .
