I've been using lmms on mandriva 2007 and noticed that it sounded extremely good in root.  So I began to read up on rtlimits and the 2.6.14 & up kernel.  From what I understand so far is that config preempt must be set in the kernel for this to work.  I'm going to take a look a debian because I have no idea how to compile a kerel.
I think a distro like dsl-n with lmms and an audio capture function would be too cool.  How about a bootable lmms usb sda1.  Set up with dependencies and tuned realtime so lmms has the perfect environment.

If you can't tell I really love this program
