I recently noodle around with a tracking program.  I had to spend a couple of minute reading  how to run everything,  but that approach puts alot of useful features on one page.   I find the more minimal gui refreshing.  Maybe there could be a tracker skin option for those who are very familiar with lmms and want to streamline there workflow.
  Another idea for saving space:  On the envelopes, leave the envelope lines but
make them movable directly by mouse and remove the knobs.  If the LFO window was a little shorter you could fit the envelope for volume cutoff and q/reso in the same space.
  Also an audio capture imho would really take the experience to the next level from a sonic pallet/ production DAW point of view.
