Allow to use curves in Automation Editor instead of "pixels", or whatever you wish to call them.

Maybe have an overlay curve which gets converted to "pixels" anyway. That way we can have both and just allow to switch to "curve mode" and modify the "pixels" that way instead.

Also some "curve presets" would be nice, like "fade in", "fade out", "fade in-fade out" and options to set "curve mode":
1) constant
2) linear
3) bezier

+1 for me. In my opinion curves work are more efficient than points.

Here is a patch for the stable branch that implements this. I haven't tested it extensively but it seems to work. It could use some DRYing and I may clean it up some more.

Please let me know if any part of it is broken or if I have missed something.

Here are some screenshots of it if you want to see what it looks like without compiling.

Here's a version with code that doesn't repeat the equations so much.

The patterns are drawn tick by tick instead of pixel by pixel now. You can see this if you zoom in. It more accurately reflects what the control will do.

  • Thanks a lot for the patch! It has been integrated into the stable-0.4 branch. The master branch currently is not maintained and a new master branch will be setup from the current stable-0.4 branch later.
