Hello,

I'm pretty new to such major installations and after long and painful compilation, I was able to start lives. However, once I'm trying to open a movie file (I've tried a number of different formats), the application crushes with the following error:

dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: Symbol not found: _avcodec_register_all
Referenced from: /usr/lib//lives/plugins/decoders/asf_decoder.so
Expected in: flat namespace

dyld: Symbol not found: _avcodec_register_all
Referenced from: /usr/lib//lives/plugins/decoders/asf_decoder.so
Expected in: flat namespace

[1]+ Trace/BPT trap lives -debug

What is the possible fix for this issue? Thank you in advance for your help. Sincerely, rzz

    Hi,
please enter the following and paste the output here.

    ldd /usr/lib/lives/plugins/decoders/asf_decoder.so | grep libavcodec

    nm -D /lib64/libavcodec.so | grep avcodec_register_all

(replace the /lib64/libavcodec.so in the second command with whatever location is shown by the first command.)

    Hi,

thank you for the prompt response. I'm trying to run this application on OSX 10.6.8 and so far was not able to locate ldd command. There was ldd executable under MATLAB, but I'm not sure if it's the same and it didn't produce any output anyway. It there a way to get around ldd?

    Thanks, rzz

You should have mentioned earlier you were compiling on OSX. I know very little about that OS, but it looks like at runtime it is not finding libavcodec.so or whatever the equivalent is in OSX.

Hello, I took your lead and recompiled ffmpeg just to make sure that libavcodec is properly installed. The previous error did come back so far. However, now as I'm trying to load a .mov file, I get the following error:

Error getting file info for clip 85413841.
Bad things may happen with this clip.

Any idea what's wrong now? thank!
