That would probably work too, at least temporarily. But a package update is then going to wipe out your cvs bits, and leave detritus laying about, so its not really something I'd recommend. Typically, either run packaged versions or don't. Fortunately, I know someone is working on 0.8.6-cvs lirc packages for ubuntu that should be hitting a ppa near you. I run nothing but packaged versions myself, but then I'm the Fedora lirc package maintainer, so I just update 'em when I need to. :) --jarod |
