This is the second report I've got about these symptoms. You could try it and see. Another thing you could check is whether there is a second set of lirc modules in the kernel. For instance, Ubuntu ships by default with its own set of lirc modules; if you are installing from sources, check that there isn't an alternate set of modules from Ubuntu. Run: find /lib/modules/`uname -r` -name \*lirc\* And remove every instance before installing your compiled drivers; although it seems improbable, it could be that lirc_wpc8769l module is binding to an incompatible (distribution provided) lirc_dev module. It's been a long time since I last tried the driver, anyway. I'll reinstall lirc CVS this weekend on my laptop, where I did the original development, to check whether it's still working, and tell you.
