We are talking here about IR sensor of creative infra-cd, not the laser 
device from cdrom itself. I think
that theoretically this have to work since this remote using standard 
~40kHz modulation, mean sensor
must be something standard too. However you may need to do some reverse 
engineering in order to
understand pinout of sensor and appropriate connection scheme.
