I'm experimenting strange behaviors with lirc clients.
My config is:
- lirc 0.6.6
- xfree86 4.3.0
- mplayer 0.92 and cvs
- xmms-lirc 1.2
- python2.3-pylirc 0.0.4 (used by freevo)
- nvidia mx440 + nvidia 1.0.4496 drivers
I'm using a dual screen XFree86 without Xinerama
I have :0.0 as my main workspace and :0.1 as the tv-out display.
mplayer, xmms, freevo work correctly on :0.0
when xmms and mplayer are launched on :0.1 it's very weird, I have to
press a remote button a lot of time before xmms or mplayer receives
when freevo is launched on :0.1 it works correctly. When mplayer is
launched (on :0.1) from freevo (:0.1) the remote stops to correctly
it works correctly : 1 button pressed = 1 event received by the
not working correctly : button pressed 2 dozen times = sometimes 1
event received by the app.
Applications on :0.1 are launched from an xterm on :0.0
(ex DISPLAY=:0.1 mplayer file)
I tried to launch mplayer on a remote display, lirc works correctly.
weird isn't it ?
Any idea ?
Is there anything I can do to debug that ?
How can I see the communications between lircd and mplayer (for ex) ?
when I strace -f -p pid_of_lircd I can see it receives my remote
events but doesn't send event to the client launched on :0.1
Is anybody able to help ?

Run irw in parallel to see if lircd sends out anything at all.
And you could at least mention which LIRC hardware you are using.
I'm using lirc 0.6.6 with lirc-sir kernel module.
The hardware is an infrared module plugged on my motherboard.
Using strace, it seems lircd doesn't send anything.
using xmode2 on :0.1 it seems lircd doesn't receive the same signals
than on :0.0
