Hi, I have built a serial receiver like on the webpage with a IRM-8601S
receiver-IC (I think it's an active-low device?). It seems to work
(according to my limited electronical skills). I get 5 volts on the input
and 4.2 volts on the output, and when I press the remote, the output
voltage pulses. It goes down do 3 volts or something. Maybe 3 volts isn't
The software is built correct (I hope), the irq and port are correct. I
tried with both serial ports. It still wont work. When I start mode2 and
presses the remote(s) (yes they work), I get no output.
The serial ports are standard 16550A ports.
How important is it to load the module in the right moment? I know the
lirc_serial module should be loaded before the serial.
How about setserial, can it cause problems?
I have a load-modules-on-demand kernel (2.2.17), can that cause problems?
When I load lirc_serial and the receiver is not connected I get this in my
lirc_serial: auto-detected active high receiver
And when its connected it's the same message but 'high' is 'low', that's
how it should be right?
Some useful info (irrelevant stuff removed):
$ cat /proc/ioports
02f8-02ff : lirc_serial
03f8-03ff : serial(set)
$ mode2 &
Module Size Used by
lirc_serial 4208 1
serial 18420 1 (autoclean)
$ mode2 &
$ cat /proc/interrupts
3: 1 XT-PIC lirc_serial
4: 12098 XT-PIC serial
Well thats it. Hope someone can help me. If I didn't provide enough info,
I'll try to provide more.
