I seemed to have missed this first message quoted below. That's my
eventual goal for LIRC, too. My only problem is I'm a relatively new Linux
person. I've been working with distros for a while now, but for the task I
need a slimmed down setup, and that means doing a lot by hand.
I too wanted to start with something small (LRC, or Tom's Root Boot) for my
MP3 player, but small almost always means 2.2. That's fine for me, but not
for LIRC, AFAICT.
Anyway, if you want to contact me off-list, maybe we can coordinate our
efforts? I think a floppy-sized (or at least small ISO) LIRC/MP3 would be
