The Via Epia mini-itx boards come with internal COM2 and FIR pins.
(At least, my SP13000 has both)
I currently use lirc through an external serial connection, but I would
like to take advantage of the internal one and/or much faster FIR.
I have trouble getting a schematic for that kind of connection, though.
The required chip is a problem too. I bought one of these already:
which is ok for SIR, but where to get a FIR chip?
(I ordered this one at http://www.conrad.com, who don't offer any FIR stuff.)
And does lirc support fir?
I have read somewhere, lost the link, that the Via Epia FIR pin layout
is different from the norm. This may explain why Google has been such a
help in finding people with a succesfull FIR connection. :-)
