I suppose the first option is used when you want to make a transmitter
too; that is, a signal is delivered throug the DTR line in the RS232
But the second one... =BFwhat it means? I though that CD was used as
incomming signal from the IR receiver...
BTW, the receiver works perfectly, and using my TV remote I can
received signal from the other side of my home (whenever there is
sight-line, of course). I'm trying to build a receiver now... I will
give information some day.

It's also related to the transmitter. It tells the driver whether it
should generate the carrier for the IR signal itself or whether there is
some kind of hardware connected to the port that already does this.
