I am following the instructions at this page and using lirc_atiusb
A /dev/lircd file is created (in pink) but no /dev/lirc does anyone
have an idea on what I could be doing wrong?
If I type irw it says refused or not found and xmode2 says no such
file/directory then error opening /dev/lirc.
I am trying to get a remote off one of my TV cards working but failing
so I thought I would try my ATI USB RF remote first which I know works

Please keep all messages on the list that may be of use to other users.
Keep an eye on your syslog/dmesg when you modprobe the LIRC module.
You can see which LIRC modules are loaded by running
$ /sbin/lsmod | fgrep "lirc"
You can see details about a module by running
$ /sbin/modinfo <modulename>
This should confirm whether the module is installed and available for
your current kernel.
Do you have any udev rules installed for LIRC that may be influencing
the LIRC device node names? As the device is a USB device, perhaps
running lsusb will determine whether it has been detected?
