Hi there! The udev-rules file contained in contrib-subdir is not correct. Comparisons now have to be with "==" instead of "=". Patch is attached. Matthias -- Matthias Schwarzott Gentoo Developer http://www.gentoo.org |

Can you explain what "now have to be" means exactly? Is this backwards compatible or is there a special version of udev that changed this behaviour? Christoph |

This is vanilla-udev from kernel.org. To quote RELEASE-NOTES file contained in udev-096 file from=20 http://www.us.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/hotplug/udev-096.tar.gz: =2D--cut--- udev 091 =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D Some more keys require the correct use of '=3D=3D' and '=3D' depending on the kind of operation beeing an assignment or a match. Rules with invalid operations are skipped and logged to syslog. Please test with udevtest if the parsing of your rules throws errors and fix possibly broken rules. =2D--cut--- I hope this clarifys it a bit. Another part: =2D--cut--- udev 055 =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D =2E.. The KEY=3D"<value>" format supports '=3D', '=3D=3D', '!=3D,' , '+=3D' now. =2D--cut--- That means this comparison with "=3D=3D" is at least backward compatible un= til=20 udev-055.
