I did a brief look at Jameco (http://www.jameco.com) and followed the links:
"Opto & Illumination"
"Emmitters & Detectors"
They have a few detectors. Be careful about the frequency. Some are NOT 38
kHz, but some are. All of the 3 pin detectors should work in the "home brew
I don't know the minimum order, but I believe it is less than others.
