I have a problem in that I want to use my IR remote control (Pronto) to talk to
an ex Cable & Wireless (NTL) set top box that only uses IRDA.
Is it possible to use LIRC to receive IR commands and retransmit an different
Obviously I will need a serial IR receiver (home brew) and and IRDA transceiver
of some sort. I'm familiar with LIRC and have built several receivers with no
problems. But the conversion will be.
First I need to learn the codes of the IRDA handset, store them in a config file
and then build an equivalent for my pronto. Learn the pronto IR codes into lirc
and then use these to trigger the relevant sends of the IRDA codes.
Does this sound sensible/feasable or should I give it all up as a wate of time.

The latter. It won't work.
