I need a suggestion on what to try next. I've been running MythTV since
version 0.7 and finally got around to replacing my ATI TV Wonder VE with a
Hauppauge PVR-250. The PVR-250 is the real deal and as such has a remote
and remote receiver. I grabbed the source for LIRC 0.6.6 and got it to
compile and install correctly. I can modprobe lirc_i2c and lirc_dev and
they seem to load just fine. I modified /etc/modules.conf (Redhat 9,
kernel 2.4.20-8) and added the entry for char-major 61 to utilize
lirc_i2c. The /dev/lirc character device seems to be there as it should. I
re-copied the hauppauge lircd.conf and lircmd.conf files to /etc/ just to
make sure they were correct.
So if I start lircd with -n (so I can see if anything bad is happening),
it runs like it should. Then if I fire up irw it I see it connect to lircd
like it should. So far so good. Now if I pick up the grey remote that came
with the PVR-250 and press buttons I get nothing from irw. What should I
Any help hugely appreciated. I can see that I'm real close and this would
be a great addition to my now much more useful MythBox. Thanks for any

Perhaps the module for the PVR have to be loaded?
If you're stuck try the cvs-snapshot 0.7.0pre6 or the cvs version.
You could try mode2, but I don't know it that's going to help.
Look in /var/log/messages or run dmesg to see if the modprobe gave any
output. It's supposed to say something like:
lirc_i2c: chip found @ 0x18 (Hauppauge IR)
Disclaimer: I haven't used the i2c driver.
