I'm trying to get serial infra-red transceiver to work under Ubuntu, that is running on Beagleboard xM.
After installing lirc and lirc-modules-source, I configure lirc to use Home-brew 16*50 UART compatible serial port, and choose /dev/ttyS0 (other option is ttyS1) it tries to load module, and hangs for a while in "Loading LIRC modules", before exiting)
Nothing really seems to happen, and I suppose lirc daemon is not starting up.
Is there some place I could see what's happening during this time to find a hint what's going wrong ?
I noticed that on newer kernels (this one is currently running on Robert Nelsons 3.0 branch http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardUbuntu) on OMAP devices there is no longer ttySx but ttyOx - I wonder if this might cause some problems for the serial module ?
I'm very new to the whole lirc, and also arm linux, so I can appreciate any advice on this..
In my dmesg I can see lines such as this, is there some relevance in these ?
[0.804046] omap_uart.0: ttyO0 at MMIO 0x4806a000 (irq = 72) is a OMAP UART0
Whole dmesg can be seen here http://pastebin.com/xTaQ41M6
Thanks for all the help in advance!
