OK, I FIXED IT!!!   WooHoo! irw now detects remote presses!

The secret is...(what's it worth to you?) ...

You HAVE to download the source from CVS, and build that. Its version 0.7.0pre1
See http://www.lirc.org/cvs.html for instructions. (But you DO have to "make install" at the end, which they don't mention.)

Good luck.

I am trying to setup lirc (0.6.6) to work with the Hauppauge remote included in the PVR-250 package in a RH9 system (to work with MythTV).

1) I presume that "Hauppauge TV Card (new I2C layer required)" is the proper driver to select from setup.sh?

2) build/install seems to go smoothly. Configure states "You will have to use the lirc_i2c kernel module." This module exists at "/lib/modules/2.4.20-13.9custom/misc/lirc_i2c.o"

3) added "alias char-major-62 lirc_i2c" to the beginning of /etc/modules.conf.

4) lsmod shows:

Jun  3 15:15:43 medusa lircd 0.6.6: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
Jun  3 15:16:02 medusa lircd 0.6.6: removed client    (when irw is exited)

6) pressing buttons on the remote generates NO RESPONSE from the irw program.

Any clues would be appreciated.
